How acupuncture supports conception
Acupuncture is the only known technique to directly increase vascular response in the pelvis by improving local circulation. Points and meridians are selected according to TCM principles to regulate the menstrual cycle, enhance the receptivity of the uterus, build the endometrial lining and improve the quality of cervical mucus.
It can be used on its own or in combination with assisted reproductive technology (ART). When used alongside IVF, acupuncture is typically given at key points in the cycle — pre-stimulation, around egg collection and immediately before and after embryo transfer.
Male factor matters too. Improved pelvic circulation, reduced inflammation and lifestyle support all contribute to better sperm quality, motility and morphology, so partners are warmly invited to be part of the treatment plan.
What's involved
First consultation: 90 minutes — health history, cycle review, lifestyle and nutrition advice, treatment.
Follow-up sessions: 60 minutes, usually weekly or fortnightly through the first cycle, then adjusted based on progress.
Many couples combine acupuncture with herbal medicine and nutritional support for a fuller approach.
